About Steven Ballard

Steven BallardSteven Ballard grew up in Southern California and as a sophomore worked in a law office where his uncle was a partner.  He continued this work until he finished college. Mr. Ballard practiced law in Southern California from 1984 through 1996. 

In 1996, Mr. Ballard moved to Nevada County with his wife and two children and began practicing law in the Grass Valley area and Auburn. Presently, he resides and practices only in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area.

Education

1975 Associates of Arts Degree in Business Administration – Fullerton Jr. College
1977 Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration – Cal State Fullerton
1984 Juris Doctor Degree in Law – Western State University Fullerton

Member of the California State Bar Since 1984.

For 27 years, Mr. Ballard’s practice has emphasized the areas of Estate Planning, Wills, Trusts and Probate.

What happens if I do no estate planning?

The State will impose its intestate statutes upon your estate and make presumptions as to who gets your estate, in what amounts they receive your assets and who will represent your estate in court. These presumptions may not be your intentions. But your estate will go through a Probate process and be subject to the Probate fees and costs just as if you had a Will.
